One motorist was in a hurry on Wednesday evening down the A1 motorway, as he was observed travelling at a speed of 227km/h in the direction of the capital at around 10.30pm. Unfortunately for him, police were conducting a speed check at the time, and were able to wave him down after a short chase ensued. The speedster saw his licence confiscated, and was issued a driving ban.

Elsewhere, in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre, a police patrol came across a crashed car in an industrial zone. The driver was found inside, asleep at the wheel. It transpired the man had consumed an excess of alcohol and drugs, resulting in a fine and withdrawal of his licence.
