The Ministry of Health confirmed the incident this week but spoke of an exceptional situation in which there was significantly higher demand than usual.

The shortage was also due to the fact that many people came for their second booster. However, for a fourth dose, it is recommended to book an appointment with a doctor, pharmacist or at the vaccination centre, the Ministry explained.

On 15 July, the medical team of the vaccination bus reached their limit of 110 vaccinations and consequently had to send people home. The Ministry is aware of the problem of organising the vaccination bus: as no appointments can be booked, people have to wait in line for a very long time, only to be sent home because there is nothing left.

Since the incident, the vaccination bus team travels around the country with a third nurse to better accommodate the demand.

Between mid-April and mid-July, 31,400 vaccinations were given, 2,100 of them in the vaccination bus. Since the bus has been travelling around the country, about 10,800 vaccinations have been administered this way.
