A new municipal executive board has been formed in Esch-sur-Sûre following a secret ballot at a council meeting on Monday evening.

Mireille Welter will serve as the new mayor. She will be joined on the executive board by Jeannot Sanavia, who previously served as a municipal councillor, while Jenny Schank will retain her current position. All three politicians were elected as part of the citizens’ list “Biergerlëscht mat iech” in the last municipal elections.

This change in leadership for the northern Luxembourg municipality follows the resignation of former Mayor Laurent Hilger, who stepped down in December citing health reasons.
