A minor who set off from Contern crashed his mother’s car into a sign on Rue de Remich shortly after midnight. According to police, the boy had argued with his mother beforehand and then attempted to drive to relatives across the border in Belgium.

The young driver was unharmed but was taken to a children’s hospital for a precautionary check-up.

Later that night, police recorded a separate speeding incident on the A4 near Steinbrücken. Officers observed two drivers exceeding the speed limit in a long-term roadworks zone. The first driver was stopped and issued a warning.

The second driver was clocked at 135 km/h in an area where a 70 km/h limit is in place. Police also identified a technical defect in the vehicle, which was subsequently impounded. Officers reported smelling cannabis, and a rapid drug test returned a positive result. The driver’s licence was revoked.
