This is the conclusion of a joint meeting between the Parliamentary Commissions on Budget and Finance, Internal Security, and Justice on Wednesday morning.

Minister of Internal Security Henri Kox, Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna, and Minister of Justice Sam Tanson all agreed that it had not been the government's intention to go down that road. The ministers acknowledged that the text is "poorly worded" and needs to be revised in a way that makes it clear that the police will only have access to bank accounts in the context of a criminal prosecution and not just for "administrative purposes".

The Commission for the Surveillance of the Financial Sector (CSSF) is to monitor the appropriate use of this prerogative, according to the draft bill.
