Lenert expressed satisfaction that the Chamber of Deputies will be able to vote on the outpatient care bill in the coming week. Outpatient care encompasses medical services provided outside of hospitals, including, for example, dialysis and radiology.

The Council of State approved the bill on Thursday, although it cautioned that potential complaints to the Administrative Court could arise. However, Lenert expressed no concern, stating that such challenges would not deter her.

The AMMD considers the entire legislation to be misguided. According to a press release issued by the AMMD on Wednesday, the government is engaging in “activist measures” during the end of the legislative period by pushing through a law that would be “detrimental to patients and the healthcare system.”

Lenert firmly maintains that public sector funding should cover the multimillion investments and that commercial pressures should be excluded from the equation.

While she acknowledges the criticism, Lenert intends for the outpatient structures, such as those operating MRI scanners, to remain connected to hospital groups. She highlights that the area of services provided outside of hospitals is currently experiencing a significant paradigm shift.

The decision to continue on this path or pursue an alternative approach will be left to the next government, Lenert says.

The current draft bill will be reviewed in the relevant parliamentary committee on Friday at noon and subsequently presented to MPs for a vote during the upcoming week.
