The trade union accuses Minister of Education Claude Meisch of being completely disconnected from the realities on the ground. While the Democratic Party (DP) politician asserts his commitment to engaging in dialogue with all stakeholders, particularly regarding compulsory education, the SEW/OGBL claims the contrary to be true.
According to the trade union, Minister Meisch has consistently disregarded their pleas for a meeting, rejecting “no less than five requests” within the past six months alone. These requests encompassed matters such as retirement for salaried teachers and vocational training. The SEW/OGBL contends that rather than addressing the pressing issues plaguing the education sector, the Minister appears more focused on orchestrating public relations campaigns. The teachers’ union insists that it is imperative for the Minister’s office to embrace critical voices instead of merely courting voter favour.
