The commission recently came forward to criticise the proposed action plan on equal opportunities, which was presented by Minister of Equality between Women and Men Taina Bofferding (LSAP). It was asserted that too many influential factors were left unconsidered in the proposal:
RTL Today article: Consultative Commission on Human Rights not impressed by ministry's action plan (7 Dec. 2020)Minister Bofferding has now reacted to this criticism and claims that since the respective government office was first founded, a lot of progress has been made: "I cannot accept the statements made by the Consultative Commission, who claim that four ministers have yet to lift a single finger to act on these issues. What about the parental leave reform, the protecting of pregnant women, or the new laws against sexual harassment and domestic violence?"
Bofferding further elaborated that the plan was carefully established and included 7 priority areas with 48 measures and 99 concrete actions to be taken: "Naturally, we also met with the commission before finishing the plan. We paid attention to their proposals and included them into our strategy."
The LSAP politician acknowledged that the work was far from over, noting that while the legal basis may have been established, the philosophy still needed to be put into practice.
