The Young Democrats (JDL), the junior section of the Democratic Party (DP), held their annual national congress in Clausen on Sunday and reelected Michael Agostini for another term as JDL president.

While Agostini, the sole candidate running for the JDL presidency, will keep his job for another term, Lou Linster has been confirmed as vice president of the youth party on Sunday. Hugo Da Costa will take on the role of secretary general and Julie Federspiel that of deputy secretary.

The JDL national committee is completed by Kevin Schoos as treasurer, Charel Bollig as international officer, and Sam Olinger, Amela Skenderovic, and Géraldine Welkenbach as members.

Aside from the internal elections, the JDL used the opportunity of the congress to review their results from the municipal elections. 29 out of 167 candidates were elected, a significant increase from the eleven JDL candidates that won their election bid in 2017.

The youth party also put forward a number of proposals in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections, most notably focusing on the issues of housing, sustainable investments, and taxes.

Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Lex Delles, the DP party president, was present on Sunday and addressed the congress in a speech.
