The incident is said to have taken place shortly before 7pm on the crossroads between Boulevard Prince Henri and Avenue Monterey.
Initial reports say four men surrounded their victim and demanded he hand over his mobile phone. They proceeded to threaten the man with a knife, at which point he acquiesced to their demands. The muggers also ripped a chain from around the victim’s throat before running away from the scene.
An investigation has been opened into the incident.
