A police patrol in Luxembourg City found a vehicle parked the wrong way down Rue Fort Neippeg overnight, with the engine still running. They were able to identify the driver and pulled him up for violating the Highway Code. In the process, they discovered that not only did the man not have a driving licence on his person, but was also carrying a small amount of cannabis. While writing up this misdemeanour, the officers realised there was an existing arrest warrant for a previous offence and promptly arrested the man on the spot.
In Gasperich, a motorist was spotted driving dangerously and was pulled over by police. The driver had their licence confiscated following a positive breathalyser test.
Another vehicle was pulled over for speeding in Differdange, where the driver later tested positive for both drug and alcohol consumption. Their licence was confiscated as a result.
Police conducted further checks in Bereldange, where six drivers received fines of 250 euros, as well as losing four points from their licences, for the use of a mobile phone while driving. Two other motorists were fined because their passengers were not wearing seatbelts, and numerous others were found to have incorrect or non-conforming documents.
Finally, a number of vehicle break-ins were reported overnight, including in Remerschen, where a backpack was stolen, and Pfaffenthal, where thieves broke a car window to steal a wallet.
