Lynn Warken, managing director of the ‘Journal’ digital magazine, will become the new president of Luxembourg’s Press Council. Taking over from Roger Infalt, who will now act as secretary general, Warken is set to lead the council for the next two years. In a press release, Warken emphasised the importance of carrying on with efforts around media education, reforming the status of professional journalists, and the right of access to information for journalists.
Paul Peckels and Misch Pautsch have meanwhile been appointed as vice presidents of the council while Jean-Claude Wiwinius, former judge and president of the superior court of justice, was chosen to chair the complaints committee. Emmanuel Fleig is the new treasurer.
It is custom for the press council to switch leadership roles between editors and journalists, on a biannual basis.
