Elie 'Lee' Kryloff, a Luxembourgish veteran who fought in the Korean War and later worked to preserve the memory of his country's role in the conflict, has died at 93.

Elie ‘Lee’ Kryloff, a Luxembourgish veteran who volunteered to fight in the Korean War, on Monday passed away at the age of 93. Kryloff was part of the second Luxembourgish contingent that served alongside Belgian forces in the war between 1950 and 1953.

The conflict marked the Luxembourg Army’s first participation in a UN peacekeeping mission. A total of 85 Luxembourgers were deployed, with two losing their lives and 17 sustaining injuries.
