Luxembourg has maintained its 10th place ranking among European countries where the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community are best supported, according to the latest ILGA Europe Ranking released on Tuesday.
The announcement was made by the Ministry for Gender Equality and Diversity.
The ranking evaluates the extent to which European countries promote LGBTQIA+ rights. The analysis focuses on seven categories: equality and non-discrimination, family, hate crime and hate speech, legal gender recognition, intersex bodily integrity, space for civil society organisations, and asylum.
According to the ministry, Luxembourg's maintained position in 10th place confirms the Grand Duchy's status as a progressive state. In this context, Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity Yuriko Backes reiterated that the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights must continue. She highlighted that the government drafted a national plan in June 2025 featuring concrete measures, including a ban on conversion therapies.
The top three spots in the ILGA Europe Ranking 2026 went to Spain, Malta, and Iceland.
