
A fifth repatriation flight carrying European nationals from the Middle East arrived in Brussels on Monday following a joint evacuation operation involving Luxembourg and Belgium. According to Luxembourg’s Directorate of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, military transport aircraft evacuated 134 people from Dubai to Egypt before they were flown to Belgium on a civilian repatriation flight.
On 8 and 9 March, the binational Belgian-Luxembourg A400M unit deployed two A400M military transport planes with mixed crews to transport nationals from Luxembourg, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands from Dubai to Hurghada, Egypt. From Hurghada, the passengers were transferred onto a civilian repatriation flight chartered by the Belgian government, which carried them to Brussels Airport.
Luxembourg authorities said a bus from the Luxembourg Army is transporting the country’s nationals from Brussels to Luxembourg Airport. Their arrival in Luxembourg is expected at around 12.30pm on Monday.
