“You can’t ban love and you can’t ban human rights,” Metz (Déi Gréng) declared on Instagram, while Angel (LSAP) called the move “yet another dangerous step towards autocracy in Hungary.”

The Green MEP also criticised the Luxembourg government’s silence, urging it to take an official stand in solidarity with Hungary’s LGBTQI+ community.

Despite Orbán’s warning of legal consequences for attendees and organisers, the Prime Minister confirmed police would not forcibly break up the march.
