Just a few steps away from the Eiffel Tower, the American Cathedral of Paris will receive a new majestic organ, which was largely manufactured in Luxembourg and is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2027.
When completed, the organ will consist of 6,193 pipes and will reach a height of up to 9.50m, making it one of the largest instruments in France. More than 30,000 hours will go into its construction. Luxembourgish company Orgues Thomas is collaborating with the German organ manufacturer Orgelbau Klais to make the instrument.
"It is a job with great responsibility, because I have to respect the integrity of the pipes – the material, the metal alloys… The entire restoration process has to be as respectful as possible", explains pipemaker Juan Carlos Ángel Gallo.
