The municipality of Luxembourg City has published figures on water consumption within the country’s largest municipality. Over the course of 2025, a total of 8,415,537 cubic metres of drinking water were consumed.

According to local authorities, the average daily consumption per resident has decreased by 11% over the past ten years and currently stands at 163 litres. This figure covers all consumption, including that of the industrial sector, schools, offices, and swimming pools.

Impressively, the current water network comprises over 447 kilometres of pipes, while the sewer system measures more than 700 kilometres.

In 2025, the large treatment plant in Beggen processed over 7,300 tonnes of sludge following filtration. The vast majority of which was incinerated in Germany.
