Many of Luxembourg's streets are still covered in snow and the cold spell continues to cause havoc for drivers. Snow removal services and emergency teams remain busy.

On the A3 towards the French border, there is an accident involving two cars. The two lanes are blocked and drivers should avoid this area if possible.

Izegerstee in Hesperange has been closed to traffic. According to one of our readers, motorists traveling from Itzig to Bonnevoie are not warned about the closure until they reach the affected road segment.

In and around the capital there is snow on the roads, so be careful there as well.

Multiple accidents have already occurred: police report that one driver was injured after crashing into a tree in Wiltz.

Schools remain open

Numerous readers have asked us if classes are canceled today and we can confirm that schools are not closed.

Speed is still limited to 90 km/h on motorways.

Expect traffic congestions so it's best to leave home a little earlier than usual if you need to get to work today. Safe travels!

Disruptions at Luxembourg Airport

Due to the adverse weather conditions, a number of flights coming into Luxembourg as well as departing Findel were delayed or cancelled. On Thursday, it appears that the travel disruption is likely to continue. For anybody travelling from the airport today, the guidance is to contact the airline you are travelling with before arriving at the airport.

Train disruptions?

Some of our readers have notified us of disturbances on the national rail network. According to one reader, the Esch-Petange train line "is 52 minutes late."

Trains  from Wasserbillig, Trier Virton, Troisvierges and Bettembourg are also experiencing delays, Luxembourg's national railway company CFL announced via Twitter earlier today. The situation should have returned to normal by now.

The below Twitter feed automatically updates with delays and cancellations on the CFL lines.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

While the afternoon should bring slightly warmer temperatures and sunny moments, Meteolux forecasts heavy evening snowfall. Up to 8 cm of fresh snow can be expected.
