A Luxair flight bound for Stockholm was forced to turn back to Luxembourg shortly after takeoff on Sunday morning following a technical warning signal, according to Luxair. Flight LG5781 had departed Findel just before 9am when the indication appeared, leading the crew to return to Luxembourg as a precautionary measure in order to inspect where the signal was coming from. The aircraft landed safely.
The plane was subsequently replaced and passengers were able to continue their journey to Stockholm later that morning with only a slight delay.
Luxair told RTL on Monday that with approximately 32,000 flights operated each year, fewer than 0.5 percent require such preventive safety measures. The airline noted that returning to Luxembourg in such situations is standard procedure, adding that Findel is the preferred location for carrying out any necessary maintenance work, as technical support is best guaranteed there.
