
The former Deputy Prime Minister confirmed after RTL’s inquiries. Current European Commissioner Nicolas Schmit also confirmed that he will not be on the LSAP’s electoral candidates’ list this June in an interview with RTL on Monday.
According to speculations, Marc Angel will be the LSAP’s lead candidate for European elections. Lenert had not revealed whether she would be running as a candidate in European elections.
Paulette Lenert was elected into government in 2018. For a year and a half, she served as Deputy Prime Minister alongside Prime Minister Bettel. She remains active in the LSAP despite not being part of the ruling coalition since the November elections.
The LSAP national congress is scheduled for Sunday, March 17, where the party’s leadership will be renewed for another year. On this date, the official list of the LSAP’s European parliamentary candidates will also be presented.
