Schools - Weekly overviewLower intra-school infections, but slight increase in scenarios 1 and 2

RTL Today
The Ministry of Education released information on coronavirus infections in schools in the time period between 9-15 November.

Overall, no new infection chains were recorded. Compared to other sectors (hospitals, care homes) the situation in schools is under control, writes Minister of Education Claude Meisch on Wednesday evening.

As a reminder, there are four scenarios for the cause and spread of infection.

  • Scenario 1 - children and young people being infected outside school without the spread of the virus at school
  • Scenario 2 - covers a maximum of 2 positive cases in a class with a source of uncertain or likely infection outside the class
  • Scenario 3 - covers the chain of infections with several cases linked by an intra-school infection
  • Scenario 4 - several classes affected and/or class has more than five infections

116 cases were reported in scenario 2,579 infections could be traced back to the first scenario, where pupils are infected outside of school without the spread of the virus in the classroom. 24 cases match scenario 3. Scenario 4 has remained unchanged.
