The lorry driver had exited the motorway near Flaxweiler to check his wheels. Afterwards, he had reversed back to rejoin the motorway. When he began to accelerate, a car crashed into the lorry from behind. The 24-year-old driver died in the collision.
In court on Thursday, the judges sentenced the lorry driver to a year's suspended prison sentence, a €1,000 fine, and a suspended two-year driving ban.
