The findings revealed a generally positive outlook among the respondents, with nearly 90% expressing satisfaction with their overall quality of life. A significant majority, comprising two-thirds of the participants, reported feeling useful and well-integrated into society. Additionally, half of the respondents indicated feeling respected and valued.

While financial satisfaction with pensions was high, with 8 out of 10 seniors expressing contentment, disparities emerged, particularly among women and retirees from non-public sector backgrounds.

However, the survey also shed light on a prominent concern among senior citizens: mental health. Despite widespread satisfaction with Luxembourg’s healthcare system, with almost three-quarters of respondents expressing contentment, a notable 46% highlighted a perceived lack of effort to address loneliness. For half of the seniors surveyed, mental health remains a taboo subject.
