Dr Stéphane Gidenne is stepping down as director of the National Health Laboratory (LNS), a post he assumed less than a year ago.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the LNS indicated that Dr Gidenne and the laboratory’s administrative board had mutually agreed to part ways.

The organisation stated that the recruitment process for a new director has been initiated. In the interim, leadership will be assumed by CFO Safaâ Moujahid and COO Dr Thomas Dentzer.

Dr Gidenne previously served as director of the privately-owned laboratory Ketterthill for ten years prior to joining the LNS.

The departure comes after a period of turbulence for the laboratory, which has been the subject of negative reports in recent years concerning lengthy processing delays, internal disputes, and a wave of resignations.
