Ahlborn is set to retire after 26 years in the role and 38 years at the institution. He is the third director at the bank since the Second World War, following Marcel Reckinger and Robert Reckinger.
Originally from Italy, Livia Moretti began her career in Luxembourg in 2002 but also spent a decade working at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, as well as working for the financial regulator CSSF. Since 2022, she has held the position of director at a Swiss bank in Basel, part of the same banking group as the Banque de Luxembourg, Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale.
Married with two children, Moretti holds a Master’s degree from the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi de Milan, and in her spare time enjoys art, piano, literature and opera.
The transition from Ahlborn to Moretti is likely to take place in spring 2026.
