In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Left Party (déi Lénk) expressed reservations regarding the appointment of Frank Pirrotte to the Intercommunal Passenger Transport in the Canton of Esch-sur-Alzette (TICE) syndicate.
Pirrotte is a member of the municipal executive board in Bascharage representing the CSV, sparking concerns due to a potential conflict of interest.
The issue arises from his previous role as the director of Groupe Sales-Lentz, a private bus company based in Bascharage. In its press release, the Left Party contends that “it will be difficult to discern whether Pirrotte represents the interests of his municipality or those of his former employer, where he was one of the directors.”
The Left Party also highlighted “recent attempts at privatisation and the transfer of routes served by TICE to RGTR [General Road Transport System] buses, i.e., to private companies,” stating that this development has raised apprehensions within the party.
The Left Party is therefore calling upon the Ministry of Home Affairs and the other communes to reject Frank Pirrotte’s candidacy for the TICE board.
