
The emergency services immediately alerted the police, the water management agency, the depollution unit, and Winseler firefighters.
The heating oil discovered in the stream came from Belgium, as a home on the N15 on the border had an oil leak. The oil leaked into the drain pipes, and then into the stream.
On Monday afternoon, the depollution unit set up five barrages to filter the water and clean it. On Tuesday, teams were still working hard alongside Wallonian counterparts to minimise the pollution.
The Environment Ministry specified that there was no risk for the drinking water in the area.
