On Saturday afternoon, two protests took place in Luxembourg City — one condemning Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and the other shedding light on the situation in Gaza.

Reports suggest that the organisers of the Gaza-focused demonstration lacked a permit, with only a protest picket allowed at Place Clairefontaine. Consequently, the protest morphed into a collective walk from Glacis to Place Clairefontaine, as outlined in a press release from the Committee for a Just Peace in the Middle East.

An estimated 200-250 individuals participated in the walk, according to on-site reporters from RTL.

The municipality’s last-minute refusal has drawn criticism from the organising committee, accusing it of hindering collaboration and attacking the right to protest.

In addition to these events, Saturday afternoon also saw a demonstration by supporters of the Israeli side in the conflict, advocating for the release of hostages still held by Hamas.
