Police confirmed to RTL that emergency services had been called to a field fire in Stadtbredimus at around midday. Alongside the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), police officers and the police helicopter were deployed, with the helicopter providing an aerial overview of the situation.
By the time RTL contacted police at around 4.30pm, the officers and helicopter had left the scene after firefighters brought the blaze under control. Fire crews remained in the area to extinguish several smaller pockets of fire and ensure that the area was completely safe, according to the police.
Images from the scene show that the fire broke out close to a house and completely destroyed a large section of the field. Witnesses said the firefighters' swift response prevented the blaze from spreading further and reaching the property.
The CGDIS also reported the field fire. Crews from Canach, Flaxweiler, Frisange, Mensdorf, Moutfort, Remich, and Mertert attended the incident.
