The new building next to Cloche d'Or is practically finished and is about to change owners: Lafayette SA, which mainly manages the assets of Luxembourg's diocese, is selling the office building to a Swedish-Swiss investment fund, which is owned in part by the private bank Sarasin.
According to a statement published by Lafayette, the building has a surface area of 14,000 square metres, which will house St Paul's editorial and service departments, as well as an additional 1,500 square metres which can be rented out.
Layfette is very active in the construction of office and housing space and its current projects accumulate to a total surface area of 30,000 square metres.
In 2020, the St Paul publishing house, whose publications include the magazine Télécran and the newspaper Luxemburger Wort, was purchased by the Belgian publishing house Mediahuis. Following the takeover, 71 of over 300 employees lost their jobs.
The Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB) accused Mediahuis of not respecting the collective agreement.
