"We will keep helping"Jean Asselborn shares moving letter from 14 year old Asma

RTL Today
Jean Asselborn received a handwritten letter from the young girl who was taken in by Luxembourg after the devastating fire in the Moria refugee camp.

Who can forget the dramatic images from the Greek island of Lesbos. After weeks of unrests, the overcrowded refugee camp Moria suffered a catastrophic fire in early September last year, leaving around 12,000 refugees without a roof over their heads.

10 countries agreed to take in around 400 minors, Luxembourg among them. At the end of September, one family arrived in the country, followed by a number of minors.

One of them has now written a moving letter to the Minister for Immigration and Asylum. 14 year old Asma is the only girl among the 12 children accepted from the camp. Jean Asselborn shared the letter on his Facebook page, reminding people to not look away from the plight of refugees. Not only Asma, but many others should be given a chance to live without fear and hunger.

The young girl expresses a wish for the future in her letter: she wants to give back to society and help others as she has been helped.
