Prison guards found the man dead in his cell on Monday 1 May, at around 8.15pm.
The judicial authorities have been informed and have requested an autopsy.
The Ombudsman, in her capacity as external supervisor of detention facilities, the director of the Prison Administration, the representative of the director of the Luxembourg Prison Centre, the police, as well as the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) were on the scene.
