On 3 December, a man was approached at around 2pm in Pescatore Park by two young people to take a photo of them. Once the photo was taken, the victim headed towards Kirchberg, before the two men pinned him down on the ground and tried to immobilise him, injuring him in the process. It was only later that the victim realised that his attackers had managed to tear his watch from his wrist without him noticing.
The police are still investigating the incident to try to find the two individuals and the stolen watch.
According to the police, this type of mugging is occurring more often in the capital, with owners of luxury watches being targeted. The thieves usually use commonplace tactics to get unexpectedly close to the victim before becoming more aggressive.
It is advised to keep a close eye on suspicious individuals who may be in full observation of passers-by.
In the event of a close approach, ensure the safety of your valuables and alert other passers-by loudly.
In case an incident take place, if you need help or if you are a victim or witness of an assault, do not hesitate to call 113, the police emergency number. It is important to alert the police immediately so that they can react as quickly as possible.
