As part of these enhanced operations, investigators witnessed a violent theft in which a victim had a necklace forcibly snatched from their neck.

The suspected perpetrator was apprehended immediately after the incident, despite resisting arrest. A second individual present at the scene, though not directly involved in the theft, was taken to the police station for identification purposes.

Over the course of the weekend, police checked a total of 34 individuals, with seven of them taken in for further questioning at the station.

Police have announced that they will continue their increased presence and targeted checks in affected neighbourhoods. According to a statement released on Wednesday, the aim is to combat this type of crime and ensure public safety.
