RTL received a report on Monday that an intervention by police and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps took place in Luxembourg City on Sunday afternoon following what was described as an “explosion”. According to witnesses, several people fled the scene in confusion as the cause of the incident was not immediately clear.

The CGDIS confirmed to RTL that one of its rescue vehicles was dispatched to the location. A gas cylinder had caught fire, but by the time emergency services arrived, the situation was already under control.

The police press office added that individuals on site were able to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher. No injuries were reported, and aside from the gas cylinder itself, no other property was damaged.
