
The increase in positive cases has had catastrophic repercussions abroad and on tourists who wanted to spend their holidays in Luxembourg. Representatives say many hotels have already registered numerous cancellations.
Many establishments may face bankruptcy if the cancellations continue. Should a second lockdown occur, many businesses fear the sector could not recover, even with government aid.
Sector officials also deplored the fact that the Ministry of Health has not provided exact information on the places of contamination.
Horesca appealed to the public to take advantage of their €50 voucher to book a night or a stay in a Luxembourg hotel and to do so directly with the establishment and not via an online booking platform, as these sites charge high commissions from already weakened businesses.
