Platinum certificationHelperknapp first municipality to rely on its own water resources
Environment Minister Serge Wilmes awarded the 'Drëpsi' certification for outstanding drinking water quality to 19 municipalities, with Helperknapp earning the prestigious platinum label as the first in the nation to be completely self-reliant on its water sources.
Environment Minister Serge Wilmes this week granted the ‘Drëpsi’ award, which certifies excellence of drinking water, to 19 municipalities across Luxembourg. This certificate is valid for six years.
The municipality of Helperknapp received the platinum label – the highest award possible – as the first municipality in Luxembourg to fully rely on its own resources. Helperknapp has recourse to four different tap water sources for its 5,200 inhabitants, with an average daily consumption of 1,100 cubic metres.
The municipality has invested €8 million in the drinking water network in the last four years.
