The national weather agency has issued an orange alert from 7am until midnight on Sunday as temperatures remain high, although conditions are expected to gradually improve.

Despite the downgrade, authorities continue to urge people to take precautions. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach around 33°C, meaning there is still a risk of heat-related illness.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

The good news is that the heatwave appears to be nearing its end.

From Monday onwards, Meteolux no longer expects any weather warnings to be in place. Temperatures are forecast to return to more seasonal levels, with daytime highs remaining below 30°C throughout the coming week.

Night-time temperatures are also expected to drop below 20°C, allowing both people and nature to cool down after nearly a week of exceptionally hot weather. Some showers are also forecast during the week, bringing further relief.

Luxembourg experienced an exceptionally intense heatwave over the past week, with temperatures reaching record June highs.

On Friday, the weather station at Findel recorded 38.2°C, setting a new June temperature record for the country.
