Coalition agreementGreen Party urges early communication to MPs ahead of debate

RTL Today
The Green Party ("déi Gréng") has formally requested that the coalition agreement between the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) and the Democratic Party (DP) be shared with MPs before its official presentation in the Chamber of Deputies.

Luc Frieden, who is leading the formation of the new government, clarified on Monday that the coalition agreement would remain confidential until formally presented to the Chamber of Deputies.

However, the Green Party is advocating for the publication of the coalition agreement on Thursday immediately after its signing or, at the very least, for its distribution to MPs. The party emphasises the importance of conducting a public debate fully informed by the contents of the document. Their objective is to ensure a well-prepared discussion for what they deem as “the most important vote of the legislative period.”

The Green Party references the precedent set in 2018 when they were part of the government, highlighting that the coalition agreement was made public immediately after its signing.
