Schools remain shut for the week of 4 January, as well as pre-school structures and activities. The parents can therefore stay home by taking leave for family reasons.
The opposition supported the changes, but similarly criticsed the fact that the government did not take advantage of the calmer summer period to prepare for this exceptional situation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Labour Dan Kersch said it was difficult to look into the future with a constantly developing situation.
