Five newly appointed ambassadors formally presented their credentials to His Royal Highness the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, during accreditation ceremonies held at the Grand Ducal Palace on Thursday. The diplomats submitted their letters of credence, as well as letters recalling their predecessors, in a series of official audiences with the head of state.
The new ambassadors accredited to the Grand Duchy are Adamou Moumouni of Niger, Aik Yeow Heng of Singapore, Walid Haidar of Lebanon, Yaroslav Melnyk of Ukraine, and Fernando Adolfo Iglesias of Argentina.
The presentation of credentials is a formal diplomatic procedure that marks the official start of an ambassador's mission in the host country. During the ceremony, ambassadors are recognised as the official representatives of their respective governments to Luxembourg.
