
Grand Duke Henri celebrates his 71st birthday today. Born on 16 April 1955 at Betzdorf Castle as the eldest son of the then hereditary grand ducal couple, Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte of Luxembourg, Henri Albert Gabriel Félix Marie Guillaume served as head of state of Luxembourg from 7 October 2000 until 3rd October 2025, when he abdicated in favour of his son Guillaume.
Today marks the first birthday Henri celebrates since stepping back from the throne. Upon his accession, he had been granted the full title of Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Duke of Nassau, Count of Sayn, Königstein, Katzenelnbogen and Diez, Burgrave of Hammerstein, Lord of Mahlberg, Wiesbaden, Idstein, Merenberg, Limburg, and Eppstein.

His Royal Highness Prince Sébastien, Henri, Marie, Guillaume, Prince of Luxembourg, Prince of Nassau and Bourbon-Parma, was born on 16 April 1992 at the Grand Duchess Charlotte Maternity Hospital in Luxembourg.
