Last week, the Luxembourg Red Cross used social media to announce that blood reserves in the country were running low and called on the public to donate blood to ensure that supplies are sufficient in emergencies.
If blood stocks were to fall further, there could be serious consequences for people who rely on transfusions, whether due to accident, illness, or other circumstances.
According to the Grand Ducal Court, Grand Duke Guillaume, who regularly gives blood, answered the Red Cross's appeal this Tuesday and made a donation at a blood collection centre.

Following the donation, the Red Cross thanked the Grand Duke publicly, emphasising the importance of every donation at a time when stocks are low and encouraging others to make an appointment online.
