The government has launched a multilingual "YourConnectivity box" containing 40 easy-to-use cards designed to help consumers understand digital services, protect themselves online, recognise threats and find support, with Media Minister Elisabeth Margue emphasising the need for practical tools as everyday life becomes increasingly digital.

Developed and produced by economic interest group by MyConnectivity together with the telecommunications sector and consumer protection organisations, each card is designed to answer common questions that, according to Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity Elisabeth Margue, consumers are increasingly asking themselves: from uncertainties about contracts or invoices with a provider, to online risks, or where to seek help.

Presenting the new ‘YourConnectivity box’ at a press conference on Monday, Margue stressed that “as life becomes increasingly digital, people also need the tools to protect themselves online”, describing the set as a practical guide for everyone.

The first section focuses on managing services: how different contracts are connected, how to cancel a subscription, how to read an invoice, or how to switch providers. These are all issues consumers deal with on a daily basis, Margue explained.

How consumers protect themselves online is the second subject, offering information on how to safeguard personal data, choose strong passwords, and secure devices and privacy settings. Each topic also includes a glossary of useful terms. In the security section, concepts such as “VPN”, “encryption”, or “burner email” are explained.

The third section looks at online threats: how consumers protect themselves from phishing, fraud, and even deepfakes. Margue noted that more and more people are concerned about these risks, and increasingly, many have already fallen victim to them.

The final section concerns where and how to get help, giving users an overview of organisations whose mission includes consumer protection.

The cards are written in clear, accessible language so that people can find straightforward answers quickly. Each card also includes a QR code linking to further resources.
