
The form is designed to help institutions, organisations, and people assess the sustainability of legislative acts. Employees have to respond to ten questions around the issues of climate, environment, spatial planning, mobility, social inclusion, and poverty.
During the press conference, Minister Welfring said she was sure that the sustainability check will improve the quality of legislative texts. PM Bettel meanwhile acknowledged that it will mean more work for civil servants, but argued that filling out the form will help simplify matters for everyone involved in the process.
A draft law can still be passed even if it fails to satisfy the sustainability check. The form is meant to point towards potential negative impacts and ways to improve them.
