The investigation stems from a statement released by the public prosecutor’s office in Diekirch on 1 March 2024, disclosing an ongoing inquiry into allegations of “sexual abuse” involving a 52-year-old general practitioner practising in eastern Luxembourg.
The individual in question remains in custody, with requests for provisional release denied at both initial and subsequent stages of review.
Additional complaints have also been lodged, presently under examination by the public prosecutor’s office in Diekirch.
The public prosecutor’s office first became involved in the case on 9 July 2021, when two adult patients filed a complaint.
After a third person reported sexual abuse, the doctor concerned was once again brought before an examining magistrate. An arrest warrant was issued on 23 February 2024. The doctor was remanded in custody by order of the Diekirch District Court.
The investigation is ongoing, and the presumption of innocence applies.
