Although the introduction of direct reimbursements is ready to launch in September from a technical point of view, there are still unsettled matters between the National Health Fund (CNS) and doctors' representatives, putting the process into question.

Once launched, direct reimbursements will mean that patients no longer have to front the part of the bill that is covered by the CNS.

A quadripartite meeting held on Wednesday was hoped to bring clarity to the situation.

However, Dr Alain Schmit, president of the Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD), told RTL after the meeting that discussions are still ongoing and that a lot of “fundamental” questions remain unanswered. This includes the digital processes involved in managing payments.

Still, Dr Schmit assured that doctors want to see the direct reimbursement system implemented as quickly as possible
