The Grand Duchy's emergency services had an eventful national holiday, reporting four accidents and six fires across the country.

A first accident was reported around noon, when a cyclist was hit by a car on the RN17 between Fouhren and Vianden. An ambulance was called to the scene to assist the injured.

Similarly, a pedestrian was hit and injured by a car at around 1.45 pm on Route du Vin in Ehnen.

Later that evening, at around 7 pm, a motorcyclist fell off his vehicle on Route de Gasperich in Hesperange and was wounded. Again, emergency services and a fire brigade from Luxembourg City were at the scene.

Another accident involving a motorcyclist was reported at 7.15 pm on rue Scharfeneck in Kehlen. Here, too, the motorist lost control over his vehicle and fell, resulting in injuries. Emergency services from Steinfort and Kehlen were at the scene.

In addition to the road accidents, the emergency services were called to assist in various fires across the Grand Duchy.

At 5.30 pm, the fire brigade of Clervaux was sent to extinguish flames in a house on Duarrefstroos in Fischbach. One person was injured here.

In Differdange at around 7 pm, a car had been ablaze on Boulevard Emile Krieps, fortunately causing no more than material damage.

A further fire was reported in Bereldange in Cité Grand-Duc Jean, where a barbecue had caught fire and spread across the terrace. The fire brigades of Steinsel and Luxembourg City were at the scene, with no injuries were reported.

Finally, smaller fires were reported in Rodange on Route de Longwy, in Heiderscheid, as well as in Differdange on rue Emile Mark. No one was injured.
