The National Federation of Luxembourg Women (FNFL) has announced that it has emerged victorious in the case against its expulsion from the National Women’s Council. The National Women’s Council is obligated to cover the FNFL’s legal costs, amounting to €1,500.
Expressing her satisfaction with the outcome, Astrid Lulling, the President of the Federation and a former politician, conveyed her disappointment regarding the lack of unity within the National Women’s Council. Lulling remarked that only the Liberal Women, a single organisation, disagreed with the FNFL’s expulsion from the Council.
She further noted that the sole reason for the attempted expulsion appeared to be a desire to remove her as a delegate. Lulling expressed her bewilderment at the actions of the other women’s organisations in Luxembourg, as their actions had now resulted in financial implications for the Council.
The National Women’s Council has declined to comment on the verdict until a meeting of the board has taken place.
In 2019, the Women’s Council had expelled the FNFL after FNFL President Astrid Lulling disagreed with Grand Duchess Maria Teresa regarding her assessment of the situation of women in Luxembourg during a reception at Berg Castle.
Having lost the initial court case, the National Women’s Council pursued an appeal, culminating in their recent defeat.
Astrid Lulling expressed the FNFL’s intention to continue collaborating effectively within the National Women’s Council, as they have done in the past.
